The front cover of the Annual Report for UVU Internship Services. I did not take the photograph but chose it out of a collection given to me. I chose to go with a square shape for the report to set it apart from other documents that may be found on a desk.
All info graphics on this page were designed by me. I wanted to create something engaging and colorful. I used the existing graphic of the intern in the tie to reinforce the department's brand.
I included a trapezoid type shape for the header and footer that is consitent throughout the document. I wanted it to give visual weight to keep the design from feeling too thin and bare feeling. I made sure to have the same shape to be on the footer of the opposite page to balance the weight.
Each chapter or section starts with a full colored photograph of one of our students who used Internship Services. I chose photographs that showed interns doing something interesting or located somewhere interesting. The annual report is not just intended to be informative but show the department's passion for the students/interns they work with.
I wanted to have a photo that would be long enough to cover the front and back of the report. The photo is of moutnains nearby the university. I could have left the back cover only have the department's logo on the footer of the page. I chose instead to also include a motto commonly used in the university. It reminds the reader the purpose and mission of the department.
