Reflection
Gathering Inspiration- I used Pinterest and occasionally Google Images and YouTube to gather inspiration for my monster project.  I think that getting some pictures to gather ideas is an important part of making art because you can look at how other people decided to draw certain things in their art such as horns, eyes, mouths, etc.  Since I have a hard time drawing realistic trees with realistic shading, I looked it up on Pinterest and found some tips on how to make plants and tree look more 3D.  There are also various tutorials on Youtube and DeviantArt that walk the viewer through each step, and those are incredibly helpful.  I think technology has helped people learn various techniques when creating digital art and developing a character, while in the past step-by-step books had been generally the main source for art teaching outside of a class and self-teaching.
Brainstorming- I used Pinterest for this as well, and also thought of characters considered “monsters” from comics or other media such as movies.  I mixed some of the features I found on Pinterest and in movies and tv shows and added a few of my own.  Technology was definitely a large contributor to the final sketch idea that I ended up using.
Execution- If I did not have the technology I did to use for inspiration and sketching, then I probably would have used books or my own knowledge about how to convey a message.  Such as, I know that when people are shy or nervous, they usually do certain things such as play with the hems of their shirts or look at their feet, etc.  Books could also help me because they can tell me how artists in the fast had showed their message through a still image.  Or I could see common trends in books about descriptions (such as having the sky become dark and stormy as soon as a certain character shows up) and how characters of different types are viewed.  But I could also do something as simple as observe people and things around me to see what people seem to think is scary, sad, or whatever else I am trying to communicate.
