In Type 1 I had the challenge of evoking the French Revolution using only typographic elements. I used contrasting type styles to convey the stark divide between the French citizens and their government during the 19th century. I hand-lettered "french" to symbolize the French people and the blood spilled in their efforts to regain Equality, Liberty, and Fraternity. The text in white was based on Garamond, which has roots in 15th century France.
