As a designer, my main influence and motivation has been my upbringing. I grew up in the countryside, on a rather large isolated estate surrounded by animals and nature, but moved to a more urban area a few years ago; and this has always reflected in my work, whether it is my use of colours or the themes in my designs they always seem to reflect a natural foundation with a modern twist.

“Britain still has the most reliably beautiful countryside of anywhere in the world. I would hate to be part of the generation that allowed that to be lost.”
Bill Bryson

It’s this transition in my life that drives me to do more things. Whilst there are very few opportunities where I’m from, but it’s not difficult to go out and find those opportunities for yourself, and I’m not going to open any doors if I don’t get up and open them for myself. The independence I had to develop from a very young age has definitely reflected in my work and learning style and shaped my beliefs and work ethics to lead me to become the designer I am today.

I am a visual pragmatist; which in layman’s terms means I don’t deal with the abstract, I like to know how things are going to work and look in the real world. I like case studies, discussions and problem solving. I’m a very hands on person, which definitely fuels my love of crafts and handmade graphics, particularly calligraphy, which is often influenced my books and music.
