This project allowed me to explore surface textures using machine embroidery and adda work. The theme draws inspiration from African graphic elements and material culture, Middle Eastern kilims, Southeast Asian ikats, and tribal crafts, blending the diverse elements to present an assortment of samples characterized by a bold and sometimes rough and hand-crafted look.
This project was undertaken during my internship with Neeru Kumar (2013). The samples were developed into cushions for the market segments of UK and US.

Sample Development:
Each cushion was made with the objective of having something rich to offer in terms of pattern and texture. They will look best when coupled with plainer soft furnishings so that the pattern of one doesn’t overpower the other.
