Finding Europe with Lights – Re:publica 2015

Through its installation „Finding Europe with Lights“, ubirch GmbH highlighted the current topic of “The Internet of Things” at re:publica 2015.

29 specially-built sensors were shipped to all European countries, including Switzerland. The sensors gathered data for the various locations as well as for each location’s light mood, which was visualized by way of light columns employing RGB color values.

“Finding Europe with Lights” not only showcased Europe’s diversity as a spatial installation, it also placed the possibilities of an “Internet of Things” into an artistic context. Only through the map at re:publica could the interconnections between the autonomous sensors’ locations and lamps be illustrated.
Fuenfwerken created an App, the map and edited the film.
