Fabric Construction : Unfolding the Banana Plant

Taking inspiration from the banana plant  - its leaf, stem and their dissections, fabric samples have been developed in an effort to recreate those natural textures and forms. The banana leaf  is used to steam, cook, serve and package food in several parts of India. This concept was taken ahead to develop packaging for organic food and wellness products. Stitching, layering, interlacing, weaving, heat setting, tie-dyeing and other surface manipulation techniques have been used.
