Bahha - A bathing experience

The project aimed at designing a bathroom space for a couple. The site was located in a duplex apartment in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This project was a classroom project where i was exposed to the whole new vista of interior design for the first time.

Since the brief was open, I decided to give the bathroom a very organic and earthy feel. The whole idea was to give the space a very raw but contemporary feel. With sunlight playing a major role, I also wanted the space to look spacious and airy .

Following is the inspiration board that provided me with the basis in deciding the aethetic elements to be incorporated in the space.
Inspiration Board
Incorporating the overall mood and aura of the board resulted into a proper blend of organic and contemporary style bathroom.
Flooring was kept sandy travertine to show high influence of earthy mood. A deck was added for the bathing area which was built with wooden planks.I wanted the faucets to be very rustic to get a tinge of vintage feel , Warmwhite lights were used with sconces providing the ambience light. For the bathtub there was an element of surprise, with a line of light passing through the bottom-mest portion of the tub. This not only gave the bathtub an additional feature but it also broke the uniformity created by the heavy wooden flooring.

Renders
As the space had two big windows, i utilised the role of natural light to play in the space.
The space allocated to the shower area and bathtub made sure that the sun light doesnt affect the bathing performance early in the morning. Whereas using it later during the day to dry out the shower area and bathtub as show below.
As the client is a television fanatic, i reserved a wall space for a 32 inch television unit. The whole idea was to give optimum convenience and joy to the user and provide them with different bathing experience.
The shower area was given an frost glass door to show a visual division and also to not let the water run on to the other areas. Concrete bathtub was used to give a porous and much natural essence. The position of bathtub was selected wisely beside the window to enjoy the panaromic view of the city  A skylight was added on top of the bathtub to give the client a spectacular vision of blanket of stars at night.
As the bathroom was for couple, i gave a wide slab for basins. A big mirror made multiplied the visual area of the space. The partition dividing basin and w.c can be used to hang towels and keep books. Care was taken that the partition doesn't hinder the passage of light coming through thr wall.
Keeping the bathroom essentials like faucets and showers in rustic bronze gave a very vintage feel to the shape. Wood and white ceramic acted very well in contrast. Concrete overall subdued the entire vibrance and gave the space a much needed organic feel. Walls were treated with white matte paint to complement the spatial elements, Wood and warm light made the space warm and inviting.
