How appropiate would 3D media be in selling a product?

Independent Study
How appropiate would 3D media be in terms of selling a product and communicate a message
effectively?
The basis of my study looks at the ways in which 3D can be used in the promotion of a product and it’s resultant effectiveness for the audience. The concept proposed is a lenticular print that will be used outdoors and indoors, in order to globally promote a limited edition sculpture, made by a famous artist from the United States, Tara Mcpherson.
Whilst understanding the fundamental idea of this concept, I proposed to create a
promotional campaign, in order to show the functionality of the media chosen and also for the purpose of the initial question. It is also be supported by a static website, that goes in more depth about the product and other elements related to it. The character was recreated by using Autodesk Maya. The lighting, the posing and the renders were done in the same program. Small touches were added using Adobe Photoshop.
The process of undertaking this study required a wide range of theory based on research that looked at different 3D, and media / marketing and advertising principles when it comes to selling a
product. By synthesising my findings and applying these to my own working practice I
developed a concept that enables me to establish a satisfactory visual conclusion to the question.
