Searching for meaning behind the Universe
Project “Start” was founded in 2015 by Technarte.
The ultimate goal and purpose of this project is to create the possibility for research and innovation at the intersection of Art, Science and Technology.
In a one month residency in the Astro Camp La Palma Observatory, Artists will try to explain the role of Art and Technology within the Universe. Artists will be needed to create an Artwork related to stars and technology.
The Observatory of El Roque de Los Muchachos in La Palma is among the three best observatories in the world and it is the home of the largest optical telescope of the world.
What is the meaning and reason of the Universe and life? Artists from all over the world will try to discover the answer, make sense out of it all, and find their supernova, by looking at the stars. They will interpret the world around us in different ways, briefly outshining the entire Galaxy.
This project is about the Universe. It is a synthesis of our understanding of the cosmos (science) and our feelings about our place within it (art).
The project includes an introduction about the Universe and the guided use of telescopes for night observation of visible planets, the Moon, stars, and galaxies, etc.

Logo “La Palma START”
The Logo design was meant to reflect the idea of “Stars". Logo of the project is based on geometrical pattern (in imitation of Roman "La città ideale" - Sforzinda by Antonio di Pietro Averlino (c. 1400 - c. 1469).
The basic layout of the Logo is an eight point star. This shape is then inscribed within a perfect circular moat. This shape associates with structure of an Universe. Each eight point star is dedicated to “STAR” and “ART”.
The two eight point star connected with each other for harmony. Logo design can be easily animated.
The Two Sides of the Open Circle Reaching Toward Each Other Represent:
The ever expanding univers.
The integration of art with spirituality.
The Unfinished Circle Being Off Center Represents:
The non-linear universe processes of evolution.
The Unfinished Circle Represents:
Our continual openness to all sources of authentic knowledge and wisdom.
Our collaborative searching space where there is always an opening for new knowledge and wisdom to enter.
Our humbling recognition that our best science facts and truths are not absolute certainties.
The incomplete and expanding universe or multi-universes.
The incompleteness of progressive evolution in this universe. The unending evolving possibilities of expanding your personal spirituality through infinity and eternity.
The Eight Point Star with the White dot in the Center Represents:
The highest individual identity, meanings and purposes of self, soul or spirit embodied within the incomplete progressively evolving universe of time and space.
The Stars that went into supernova.
The Full Symbol Represents:
The Universe.
The inclusion of all individuals, clans, tribes, nations, planets, systems, galaxies and that which is the origin of the universe as one union.
