Norra Kajen is a project about home waste-management. The project analyzed user behaviours from a home-owners perspective in order to give insight to the amount of waste being created. I came to the conclusion that the issue was about information and waste being abstract and something that magically disappears. The project aimed to create awareness of what we are throwing out and how that process could be improved.
A key insight was to look at waste disposal as a whole. We needed to see the entire building as a unit, instead of individual apartments.
The solution is a interactive screen which can be placed in public spaces around norra kajen. De people living there can use them as a place for trading in the area and information regarding waste management.
Mat & Saker is a concept for giving away or trading unwanted or abundant food with your neighbours. By doing so reducing unnecessary waste.
People living in the area have a collective responsibility to handle their waste. Miljöbevakning aims to make people realise how much waste is being produced. This encurage's people to be more thoughtful about how and what they are throwing away.
