The place of intervention is a urban void, where once there was a school. With its demolition and consequent emptiness, the population of Fundão appropriated it as a parking place
The proposal under analysis is inserted here, in order to characterize it with a new program: a collective housing complex with a commercial area.

The strategy is based on an urban reorganization, redesigning the elevation of the avenue and the limits of the block, creating a passage and an experience between the irregularity of the old mesh and the ruled design of the new part of the city.
This proposal tries to revitalize this place, through a space that welcomes people, providing a fluid connection that filters two opposing realities.
The full and empty spaces reorganize the block according to the experience of the historic center and the orthogonality of the new mesh. The interaction between full and empty is achieved through the creation of green spaces that relate to the volumetry of the building, defining the public and private characters.
The proposed building is divided into three floors, the first one is dedicated to commerce and the others are housing.

The proposed building is divided into three floors, the first one is dedicated to commerce and the others are housing.
The first floor contains a crossing that connects the new part with the old part of the city, as well as small passages to an outer space used as a recreation space, being a platform more dedicated to commerce.
The access volume leads to the residential part that also lies on this floor, establishing a connection to the second floor. In this second floor, the volume of accesses is sewn with a distribution gallery for the dwellings. For each module of 2 dwellings, the gallery flows into a distribution patio for each dwelling.
On the first floor of the dwellings there are living spaces with a double height ceiling, both illuminated by the patio and by the windows overlooking the avenue, and the kitchens are also very bright and airy. On the third and last floor are the mezzanine rooms, with views to the exterior and an open relationship with the remaining spaces of the house. This open relationship between the different divisions of the house allows spacious spaces, very fluidity and constantly illuminated.
