ISTD: The blind shall see

ISTD 2014: Everything about one thing.

The blind shall see is a book about the first moment in which Valentin Hauy (the mentor of Louis Braille) realised he could teach the blind how to read through their sense of touch. To tell the story of this one moment I have divided its defining elements, the people involved, the location, the time period etc. into tip-ins inside the book. The full story of the moment is revealed on the last spread when all of the tip-ins match up and allow the full text to be read.
Opening book copy: Even in times of darkness and uncertainty it only takes one moment to inspire hope, kindness, or even change. It only takes one moment for everything to become clear.
Last page copy: It was the simple honest act of this blind beggar which was a pivotal point for Valentin Hauy. Coming to the realisation that the sense of touch could be the key to teaching and bettering the lives of the blind, he set out on a life long journey dedicated to their education. It was this dedication that led to Hauy founding the first school for blind, subsequently the school where Louis Braille himself was taught.
