Avatar hosted a VIP family fun day at the 2015 Red Bull Air Race in Ascot. I was tasked with designing an invitation that would really stand out and I decided to take that brief literally and include a pop-up element.

 

I adapted the Red Bull logo and added it to an illustration of one of the air gates synonymous with the sport. A simple v-fold would cause the plane to pop up out of the card when opened.

 

The internals were 4-colour printed before being cut and creased using a computer controlled Zund machine. The external stock (a Plike paper) was also Zund cut and digitally printed with a white ink. After production the cards were hand assembled by the team as the quantity was small.

 

A handy concertina folded pocket cheat sheet gave guests on the day the essential facts and rules.

 

Feedback from the invite was incredible and most agreed that it helped to set the theme of excitement for the big day itself.
