Typography Travel Posters

These are a few examples of some travel posters I created. Below you will see the finished versions of advertisements for vacationing at The Grand Canyon. These posters were created using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Keynote. I have a good amount of experience with Keynote and found it easier to manipulate the images and create symbols.
These travel posters were created using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Keynote. I edited the pictures inside of Illustrator and Photoshop, but compiled the information and graphics in Keynote. I have a good amount of experience with Keynote and felt more comfortable utilizing their features during the creation process. I found it easier to line up the arrow graphics and also add features to the textual content. The original and finished images are shown below.
The original image is shown below, the finalized version above. I was directed to include certain bits of information, such as the measurements and designated site that can be used to plan a visit. I chose fonts that I felt relfected the emotion of the image itself, which yells family vacation to me. I remember seeing the informational pamphlets at rest stops on family road trips and wanted to channel that nostalgia. I chose a special and different font for "Grand Canyon" to make it stick out in the viewers head, while using simple fonts for the information presented. I selected the color schemes straight from the image itself, using the eye-dropper tool. Once my swatches were selected, I placed a grey mask between the image and the font. This made the font colors pop against the background, which is secretly the same color. I found this to be a useful technique in narrowing down what colors to use, as they can easily become distracting.
This poster has the novelty family-road-tripesque feel behind it, as I mentioned above. As you can tell by comparing the new image with the orignal, I used the grey masking technique once more.
