Summer project during my one year at De Montfort University.
In this project I was asked to create one fully armoured character to represent a studio in a promo piece.
I choose to make this promo piece for a indie company, hence the style followed throughout the process.
I took this oportunity to practice good costuming, as I tried to follow the fashion from the period as strictly as I could.
There was also inspiration drawn from the Dragon Age Inquisition cards and concept art, which were so perfectly tied down and had a very good aesthetic and very pleasant colours.
For this project I choose to begin with the face. I tried to make them as distinct as I could, although I already had a particular face in mind
I then moved on to create five different armours for this character. I tried to convey personality and backstory to these armours, according to what each face appeared to show
I then procceded to iterate on the best armour of the bunch. It was a very tough choice, as I had to use colour theory and my own knowledge to communicate "Paladin", but bring a fresh view to this very used character, just with colours
These were some tryouts for the final piece. I liked the static poses as it communicated a very strong, willful character
The final result for the promo piece. Immensely inspired by Dragon Age Inquisition, I used different symbols to communicate the just nature of the Paladin
