Ever since I discovered ‘Glitch art’ at the beginning of my third bachelor year, my interest in broken images has kept growing. It was strange and renewing to see artists spend so much time and effort photographing or filming something, to just ‘destroy’ it in the end. The broken images that appeared were something completely new and were a completely different experience from the original. I use ‘Glitch art’ to show my personal story. At the end of 2013, my girlfriend and I were both victims in an accident. Apart from physical injuries, the whole experience has left me with some mental scars. Sometimes this causes a short circuit which leads to me not being able to function properly, I interpret this as a human glitch. The memory of, the fear and the vulnerability I keep experiencing play a central role in my work.
