Malad Gorge State Park, Idaho

When you are on this short,  I-84 span, in the middle of Idaho, travelling the 75Mph speed limit, you are lucky to even notice Malad Gorge, let alone its majestic waterfalll directly beneath you, or the preternatural bright-blue-green, Malad River.  At the span, the gorge is only 50 feet wide.  The water will make a person sick, as it did the French explorer who named the volcanic spring fed river after the French word "malade", meaning sick, and the root of the English word "malady."

Note how far the boulders have been flung away from the bottom of the waterfall...testament to the seasonal torrent that passes through the extremely narrow chute below the bridge.
