Typography 'Fakery' book
Book book in transparent Perspex cover
This book was produced for a brief on fakery. I chose copying and copyright violation in design as a focus, using 'originals' and 'copies' well known in design circles. Graphic elements used include diecutting and transparent plastic to allude to the transparency (or lack of) that can form the provenance of a piece of design work. Pixelated treatments were also used as a transitional effect to demonstrate how closely 'copies' could be to their originals.
The cover features Andy Warhol's Marilyn, and Banksy's Kate Moss in a laser cut Perspex cover.
Full title page. The title of the book runs over the pages. The images are Herbert Matter's swiss ski poster, and Paula Scher's poster for Swatch.
Imprint and title page.
Contents with colour coding for each section.
Section opener. The 'original' Obama photograph is seen opposite the Shepard Fairey 'copy' with a pixelated version to demonstrate how closely the two match. The die cutting allows all three to be seen together.
Section two intro pages.
