detail
some initial sketches. the top row shows three ideas for creating after-death trophies for a horse, the bottom row shows a cartoon idea, an off track betting board that could be used to show the odds of each horse making it off the track alive, and a concept to advertise nonexistent races with names like "death row derby," or "horsebeef stakes."
the original concept that lead to the final print ads, showing what the public saw the horse win on one page, and what happened behind the scenes on the next.
experiments using objects to show the horses accomplishments before, and after death. examples here include ribbons to paint brushes, checks to gelatin, off track bedding receipts to a restaurant check, champagne to lipstick.
experiments continued. trophies to glue, wreaths to dog food.
some of the used and un-used products made from horse parts.
