Chest of drawers called life is another of my experiments in old oak wich contains my thoughts on life.
So I used material wich is not needed any more for supporting life as a house but rather would be used as a choped pieces for fireplace wich is a short term useage but use din this manner can enrich ones man life and his home for a long period of life onece more again.
Most of the work is hand made ,joints on corners of a chest are hand sawn called dovetaitls ,for firmness and long lasting.
I like contrasts in furniture ,light and dark ,straight and curved like in life jing and jang , there is nothing ever all black or all white .One contrast emphasizes another and this is the diversity that gives life a meaning.
There is also a contrast between new modern high quality drawers in black colour made of steel and glass and old wood wich may be as old as 300 years.
And in the end Dna double strand is what i wanted to show in doors of drawers with curved lines ,this is our gene ,our history wich is passed on through generations .
The wood is finished with a mixture of beeswax,tung oil and linseed oil .
Chest of drawers called Life is a fully functional furniture sculpture and i hope someone will enyoj in it as much as i did building it or more.
