Book Launch Event Posters

This summer, I interned at the publishing company in Brooklyn, powerHouse Books. I carried out various sorts of tasks assisting the in-house book designer, like working on book interiors, doing research, editing images before putting them in. But I did have full autonomy when I was asked to design some posters for book launch events that takes place in the bookstore at the Powerhouse Arena. Below are some of the posters that I've created.
US(a.)

For this one, I was really intrigued by the book cover so I wanted to create a collage with it. Using Photoshop, I cut the cover into many squares then duplicated and arranged these squares to form a visually intensifying collage.
Thirteen Ways of Looking

A lot of times when I create a poster for a book event, I wanted to draw inspiration from the book cover and its story. This design was more simplistic and straightforward.
Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights

I was working with a file of the book cover and a file of Salman Rushdie's photograph. After showing several samples to the in-house designer, we finally settled with this design.
Ultimate Warrior

Everything you see here was crafted and pieced together on Photoshop. The post-it notes, the newspaper background, the book, etc. It was an experimental idea that helped me dig deeper into Photoshop because I spent so much time figuring out how to do things like perspective and making fake shadows.
