Monza: city branding

This project is the result of a day-long workshop, where we had to design the visual identity of our hometown. I live near Monza, Italy, so I worked on this city.
 
The first task was to select three words that describe the city and design a symbol for each word, coming from the same grid. Next, I had to design the city branding starting by these symbols.
Monza has a rich history but the most know it for the Formula 1. Indeed, the main attraction here is Monza Park (Parco di Monza), one of the bigger walled park of Europe, in wich there is the famous Autodromo Nazionale Monza. So I choose the words community, nature and vitality. The grid recall the decoration of the Iron Crown (Corona Ferrea) a famous and emblematic evidence of Monza's history.
 
Orange and red tones represent the energy, the vitality, but also the history of this city. Green and blue tones recall the peace of natural escape of Monza Park.
 
The instituitional logo is the letter "M" of Monza, but you can also see the wheels of a car! The lines are dynamic and curvy, without any corner, like a racetrack.
