Minimalistic Album Posters | Collection #1

For this self-directed project, I wanted to take a collection of relatively well-known albums, and redesign the front cover of the album itself into the form of a poster that would use my traditional minimalistic style of graphic design. The idea was that, visually, all of the posters would be able to easily make a connection to its designated album, whether it was based on genre, lyrical content, or the overall direction that the album took.

The inspiration behind this project came shortly after I was exposed to the work of Justin Van Genderen of 2064 Design who uses a similar style to mine, which is also primarily based on using shapes and text (excluding the use of various retro based textures). Although this project is neither a tribute, or an experiment in which producing the outcomes would make viewers suggest that the outcomes themselves were made by Genderen and not me, the aim of this project was to maintain my textureless and flat visual style, but incorporate some elements and layout / alignment preferences that Genderen would have most likely chosen should he have been working on this project.
