My university, UNCG, has been expanding into the surrounding area for the last several years. They recently completed construction on a group of off-campus residence halls called Spartan Village. To celebrate, UNCG held a t-shirt competition to design the shirts that would be given to all of the incoming students living in those dorms the next year.

Unfortunately, I didn't win. And I'm typically not a sore loser, but I was very disappointed by the shirt that beat out my design. I've included both my design and the winning design below. Let me know who's design you think should have won.
Front Design | The concept is an eagle-eyed view of what the dorms look like from above.
As you've probably noticed, the building in the top right-hand corner is filled in with solid yellow. The reason behind this was that particular building had caught fire and burned down during the construction of Spartan Village. And at the time of the design contest, the building was behind schedule and still under construction. I wanted to acknowledge the strange set-back, and it also gives the design a nice asymmetrical look.
Back Logo | I also used this as the front logo design for an alternate version of this shirt that I included below.
Font | I chose this font because it is UNCG's headline and display font for all its brand standards.
Shirt Layout | What the designs would have looked like on the front and back of the shirt.
Alternate Shirt Layout | This is an alternate version of the design which just had the "Spartan Village" wording and spear on the front of the shirt.
Spears | I wanted to include a spear between the words "Spartan" and "Village" so I created these from scratch and figured I'd do a couple different versions while I was at it.
