Behind The Fortune

The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald is well known for its glitz and glamour, but what do we really know about 1920s America?

In celebration of the 90th anniversary since the first publication of The Great Gatsby, this pack, including a limited edition book, poster and a booklet that contextualises 1920s America, looks Behind The Fotune giving readers an insight into the real 1920s.
Inspired by Art Deco, the above poster has been constructed using six elements, correlating to the sections in the booklet: The New Woman, The Jazz Age, Prohibition, Black Culture, Industrial Boom, and the Stock Market: Rise and Fall. The centre features a spot made of gold leaf, highlighting money as the centre of everything Gatsby and the 1920s.
The booklet contains seven sections as stated above and gives the reader an insight into 1920s America. Inside cover pages have been printed with gold leaf as well as a smal spot to match the poster. It has been hand bound with gold thread using Japanese stab binding with a tortoiseshell pattern. The limited edition book is covered with a jacket of gold leaf.

Below is a sneak peak at a selection of the pages from the booklet.
