The Relativity of Matter 350m2 installation

Prominent artwork to premiere at Marres.

Visual artist Levi van Veluw, public favourite of the Volkskrant Fine Art Prize, creates a spectacular artwork at Marres, where he literally builds a house inside a house. Levi turns Marres into a surreal landscape, a site where all the visitor’s senses will be stimulated. Viewers wander through dark rooms and corridors where impressive images appear. Aside from the great boost this large and ambitious work represents for the artist’s oeuvre, as well as his career, it also gives Maastricht a unique opportunity to present a high-quality work of art as an interactive attraction for a wide audience. Despite the large scale of the work, it cannot accommodate many visitors at once. Join the crowd funding and make sure to reserve a place in this not-to-miss exhibition!

The realisation of this impressive installation will require an enormous amount of labour and material. The installation comprises nine rooms with a surface area of 350 square meters, and will be constructed out of 5,000 thousand kilos of wood, over 200 large partitions, hundreds of shelves, tens of thousands of balls, thousands of geometric shapes, 150 kilos of paint and 100 litres of resin. To make this realisation possible, we are looking to raise 25,000 euro through crowd funding. This budget will allow Levi to realise all the rooms at Marres and fully complete the installation.

We hope that anyone who is excited to see this work and who is supportive of Marres will help to make the realisation of this artwork possible. In return we offer an exclusive evening at Marres or a VIP meeting with Levi during the preparation of the work. A donation of as little as 50 euros gives participants a chance of winning one of Levi’s artworks, an edition of a drawing. All contributions, large and small, are greatly appreciated. Help us to reach the target amount so that this exciting work can be realised.
