Cap'n Crunch "Save Our Seas" Campaign

Quaker Oats decided to do a campaign to clean up the seas though their popular cereal brand Cap'n Crunch. Kim Griffith and I worked with The Marketing Arm agency in Dallas to create artwork for three Cap'n Crunch boxes. After the first three box covers were completed, and one back started, Quaker decided to stop the project. The Today Show had done a segment on sugar in children's cereal, and singled out Cap'n Crunch. The sudden bad publicity made Quaker rethink their plans for the campaign, and finally decide to cancel it. We would love to have seen this worthwhile project through to the end, but it was not to be. Design, art direction, type treatment, and some art was done by Kim, and most of the illustration was done by Steven. Below are several pencils, layouts, and final artwork.
