the language of flowers

ap studio art: 2d design concentration
these designs do not really exist...yet
The inspiration for my concentration came from the Victorian Era's 'language of flowers', which was where people would communicate to one another with the meanings of specific flowers. When illustrating and designing the apparel, I kept in mind the color, petal shape, texture, and meaning of each flower.
I began the concentration with a more traditional technique, strictly using traditional medium. However, towards the third piece I transitioned to relying on a digital technique to create each piece.
Every garment was first drawn in ink, then hand-painted, and lastly scanned. Then these scans were digitally manipulated using Photoshop onto studio photographs I took of my friends to give the illusion of the pieces appearing to be physically worn.
