Somewhere along the way of my undergrad studies, I was introduced to Kathe Kollwitz. I fell in love with her work, and it was largely because of her that I pursued printmaking as much as I did. The following is a charcoal self portrait inspired directly by Kollwitz. As most artist's can relate to, I am highly critical of my own work. That said, this piece is not as refined as I would like, but I would love to do it again and do it better.
