Architecture in Connecticut

The Blue Bridge is part of New Hartford’s classic country road known as Route 219. The road ventures out into New Hartford’s forests in both directions. The route was commissioned in 1935 extending Route 4 in the Nepaug section to US 44 at the village center. The most scenic portion of the road follows Lake McDonough and crosses the Farmington River by the steel spanning Green Bridge.
From old to knew, our tour of the Farmington River leads us to a modern arch bridge that rests just off of River Road in Farmington Connecticut. The bridge connects a secluded neighborhood separated by a small stream connecting to the Farmington river. The arch design is not as popular as the metal stress bridges found in this area, however it could have once been one before it was rebuild.
