Holi Festival Of Colours

Holi Festival of Colour

It was one of the days that I was sitting with my head buried into my Mac, headphones on, fiddling about with designs, moving type slightly up, slightly down, different font, different weights. When someone unknown to me walks into the room...
She was a photography student from my Uni and after stating she was looking for help with her project I felt like I could be of assistance as well as use this opportunity to work closely alongside another artist.
So she takes my email, emails me her ideas and we talk about it for a bit via email, this is where the first hurdle was met, she wasn't entirely sure about what she wanted me to create with the image, it didn't take long, but it took longer than expected to eventually find out that she wanted me to create a single run poster advertisement for the Holi Colour Festival.
As a photography student she understanded negative space, positioning and had appreciation for design. What she needed from me as being a graphic designer was for the typographic understanding, knowledge of advertising and the application of branding.
The topic of the photography students brief was powder, thus the use of the Holi Colour Festival. She provided the photo taken by herself. I created this as a first outcome:
