YCN: ECB - You in or out?

This brief was set by the ECB for the YCN Student Awards 2015.

Brief
Many male cricketers between the ages of 14 and 19 are dropping out of playing cricket. This is due to a number of factors, including not enough time for homework and feeling like they're not good enough to play.

The ECB want you to create a multi-channel campaign with the aim of encouraging young people to keep playing, as well as volunteering for their club. Crucially, this work will appeal to, and grab the attention of, young male teenagers with a keen interest in sport.

My Campaign: 'You in or out?'
My campaign centres around the phrase 'You in or out?' in order to get teenagers thinking about whether they want to be involved in the game of cricket or not - should they have dropped out? Do they want to rejoin their club?

I wanted to find a simple method of communication that would appeal to teenagers, and texting was the idea I went with. For my campaign, I have used the form of texting to create many visuals, as well as creating my own set of cricket emoticons, which the audience could download onto their phone to use.

For my campaign, I have designed a cricket emoticon app, four posters, a leaflet, a document aimed at the committee members of a cricket club, a short animation and a Facebook page.
