This was a lovely project, doing a traditional illustration based on Great Expectations for the cover of a book by Mary Hammond. The illustration needed to be black and white, but beyond that I had fairly free reign. I decided to go for a hand-inked aesthetic, which I achieved by physically inking multiple layers, and then compositing them in photoshop. I was initially commissioned by Mary for the cover, but the publishers loved the illustration so much they requested to use it on the cover of their 2015 catalogue.
