Hock Lee bus riot occurred in 1955 when Singapore was under the control by the British Colonial rule and the public was suffering and this was the root cause of the student riot. Uncle Bill Teoh Koh Chay who currently owns a comic shop in Peace Centre was a police officer during that era and he experienced first hand the Riot and therefore I used him as the main character in my illustration.

 

Besides, I have made an envelope to place the booklet that is similar to the feeling where policemen save the file documents and I have coloured a few of the illustrations and made them into postcards using burlap and paper bags for the packaging to bring and provide us with the feeling of the environment in 1955.
