Project: Album artwork and layout

A great band from Montreal called Red October recruited me to design their album cover and layout for their upcoming release "Let The Rules Go". I was excited to start working on an album layout again, having recently completed one for my band, and the Red October project took off with a bang.
The guys in the band were great musicians and artists, and had a specific direction they wanted to go in with the artwork. They wanted to draw influence from both real and surreal worlds, which coexisted in a hybrid of fantasy and realistic elements. An abandoned underwater city that had a single light on inside one of the buildings was the initial concept, and I took the idea and ran with it.
One of the coolest things about working with the Red October guys was that during the time I was working on the album artwork the band was on tour, and when they came through my hometown I was able to catch their live set and take them out for a night on the town afterwards. I do a lot of work for bands from out of town and province, so it's always a great experience when we're able to meet in person while they're out on the road.
