Role Played: Design and pre-press
Product: Postage stamp for Swedish postal service
Prospect: Swedish and Danish investors aged 55-70
Goal: Create a non-distracting stamp that represents the company
Placement: Mailed to a cold direct-buy list
Imagery:
• Market research showed that animals are popular subject choices for Posten AB stamps
• Owl was chosen due to it's association with intelligence and wealth (in certain cultures)
• A particular local species of owl (Eurasian eagle-owl) was selected for locals to recognize
• With a two-color print limitation, artwork of the subject was chosen to have sketch-like appearance to improve overall print quality
Typography:
• Thin serif font in all caps was implemented to reinforce the nobleness and antiquity of the look
Success:
• 10,000 prints of this limited run stamp were distributed and mailed to prospects, aside from the remaining handful that was given to the local Swedish stamp collector organization upon their written request
