The Four Freedoms
Thorough research into the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki led to the design of a booklet condemning America's decision to deploy the first atomic bomb to be used in warfare. The images were sourced from an original Hiroshima souvenir booklet dating back to 1955. Close consideration of the relationship between word and image was applied throughout the project to combine the two effectively. The text was sourced from a typewritten letter by an American journalist from Life magazine informing his editor of the disturbing scenes.
