LovePop Cards Kickstarter Campaign

LovePop Cards Kickstarter Campaign
LovePop makes 3D greeting cards. The company started in 2014 during a grad school trip to Vietnam, where John Wise and Wombi Rose, two nautical engineers turned business students, became deeply inspired by the Asian art of papercutting. They knew they could use their mad CAD skills and business savvy to bring these beautiful paper sculptures to North America.

After gathering a small team, creating cards and selling them in craft markets and online, John and Wombi wanted to target a much bigger audience. They had a 2014 holiday collection ready to go and just had to raise the funds to get them made. All they needed was a Kickstarter.

As Creative Lead, I developed marketing content and a PR strategy that would get people talking. The LovePop story unfolded in different media, through scripting and storyboarding the introductory video, to writing the Kickstarter page, to publishing press releases and social media posts.
The campaign surpassed our goals, making Staff Pick, reaching its funding goal in 3.5 days and finishing off at 232% funded. Over 2000 cards were purchased by 454 backers.

The Kickstarter received press coverage from Boston Business Journal, BostInno and Crowdfund Insider. The video was played 4,424 times. 34% of backers found us through Kickstarter, with the rest coming from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, web articles and blogger links.
