Myopiology is how myopians see the world. This project has an intention to help myopic accept themselves for who they are. Research on lights and colours were done to further improve the space. As a severe myopian, I was unsure if we were too dependent on glasses. Hence, I’ll like to propose a space that doesn't require us to wear glasses or utilize any seeing aid to maneuver confidently and comfortably in the
space. My intention is to allow my user to not feel so dependant on glasses and accept their vision as it is. There are two causes of myopia, one being genetic, the other is caused by the surrounding environment. In my case, both my parents had myopia and it has been genetically passed down to me, resulting in a one thousand one hundred shortsighted degree. Myopia is very common in the world. 70% of Asians, 20% of
European and 10% of Africans are myopic. In Asia, Singapore has the highest percentage of people with myopia. 80% of Singaporeans have myopia. Everyday we get out of bed searching for our glasses. We have been too dependent on our seeing aid. Why are we suiting into the environment when the environment is supposed to suit us? This thought got me thinking and sparked the idea for this entire project. Does having a blurred vision mean make you imperfect? Who is there to judge you for what you see? Myopians simply see the world differently.
