Today’s society is overwhelmed by consumer demands. Throughout a person’s lifetime he is bombarded with consumer messages. Research shows that by the age of 12 a child sees 20,000 30–second TV commercials and by age 65 the average American sees two million commercials. Through television, Internet, radio, print, and communication devices consumers are asked to purchase more as a way to make themselves better.

Because the majority of these messages are delivered through TV we mined this medium for the material to produce a 30 second sonic/visual collage of contemporary consumer society. Clips from prime time TV were sampled from Friday night between 7 and 11pm and reassembled through a process of layering and cropping.
