The Brief: The I Wish I Was There Awards want to create a unique tourist attraction in your home town, which has won the award.

 

The Solution: Leeds is well known for its night life and culture, but alot of the city's history has been forgotten. Beneath The City A Beach is a one off event which will see Mabgate Beck turned into a venue for a night out like no other. These becks and tunnels, which now run underneath Leeds's city centre once shaped the city, but have now been covered and forgotten. Beneath The City A Beach is a chance to reflect Leeds's famous night life and culture, while also showing people the hidden history of the city.

The styles used in the type were to reflect the grit of the city above, and the relaxed atmosphere of a beach. This was also reflected through the choices of sky. I used this silhouette style to clearly connect the city with the beach.

I created an app to give people information on the event. The app is also a platform to find out more about the venue and the hidden history of Leeds's city centre.
