Experimental Growbox

Well let's get this show on the road.
All kinds of stuff lying around...
That's the drain, those two tubes up there. For if I accidentally drop 5 buckets of water on top.
There's a net covering the drain.
The first residents have settled down.
I just fed those circled chompers a juicy fat little fly.
That metal thingy on the left is the sensor of the thermometer gadget on the right of the box.
That thermometer gadget on the right has its sensor (the metal thingy) on the left of the box.
They didn't seem to like the flies I fed them. They seem to have choked on it.
Lost its way.
Looks like it wants to go for a walk.
This orchid, now high and dry, was drownling in the right upper corner of the box. Something is amiss in that corner. It stays wet and cold. Maybe it's haunted.
It's spawning new chompers.
It's making buds like a madplant.
It's giving us the finger.
How cool is that. Saves me a trip to the smartshop.
I've added a bunch of new plants.
See that little brown mushroom back there? It came with the moss. Bonus.
It's making flower buds.
And now this critter is making a flower bud too. Maybe it senses its end, wanting to procreate before it dies.
Garlic.
Tin foil. Reflects the sunlight back into the box.
I turned that circled orchid, with its big, clumsy leaves, around so it doesn't bother the other plants anymore.
It's a baby-patch of moss.
This patch of moss is making babies too.
It's growing like hell.
I think this'll just die.
That grassy plant grew from one tiny straw.
This is the last picture of this setup before I moved to another place.
I've moved to another place (bought a house). Everything died (eventually). I'll start anew.
I'll try something different this time.
Found that branch in Maastricht (Netherlands). Wanted to do exactly what you see here. I hear this is one of the natural habitats of orchids... sitting on a branch, roots like feet dangling freely about.
Thought it was a little empty. Fixed.
I wanted to paint it black.
This one's new.
This one won't make flowers just yet. Maybe it has been traumatized by all the climate changes it went through lately.
That (dry) curly stuff on the branch (left) is called 'Spanish moss'. Should be revitalized by spraying some water over it. We'll find out soon enough.
I hope this one will wrap itself around the branch, causing it to have a 'sylvan' (curling-up-with-Spanish-moss-bitch-fighty) look
Yeah, there's some moss over there too.
Another patch of moss.
I think this one gives the growbox a genuine jungle-look.
I had some jungle grass in the previous setup too. Wanted it back.
It's a happy, little family (for now).
Didn't like the Spanish moss. It looked like it was always dying. This is much better (I think).
It's a branch from one of the trees in front of my garden outside. Various types of moss cover its surface.

This is a personal hobby-project I wish to share. Besides programming there are other things I like, exploring various flora being one of them. I Read More
