Uma vez definido o objeto do trabalho, iniciou-se o diagnóstico urbanístico e edetectaram-se os problemas e os potenciais do bairro. Dentre os problemas encontrados estavam a ocupação desordenada da margem d'água, inclusive sobre ela (em edificações do tipo palafita), além da falta de conexão entre os diferentes pontos do bairro. Por outro lado, como potencialidade apareciam a possibilidade de remoção da comunidade para terreno próximo ao atual local, liberando a frente d'água para o uso de toda a comunidade.
Assim sendo, decks sobre o rio seriam criados a fim de aproximar o público do Rio Capibaribe proporcionando direta interação e aproveitamento do espaço. Da mesma forma, a fim de manter as pessoas no bairro, edificações de pequeno porte e gabarito seriam projetadas a fim de abrigarem lojas, restaurantes, cafés e exposições de arte.
Conectando as diferentes partes do bairro e estabelecendo eixos de deslocamento para pedestres e bicicletas, resolve-se o problema de desconexão do bairro. Liberando a frente d'água e garantindo a sua constante utilização, em muito se valorizou um pedaço da cidade que insiste em se manter esquecido, além de proporcionar a apropriação do espaço pela própria comunidade residente.

Once the object of the work was defined, the urban diagnosis was started and the problems and potential of the neighborhood were detected. Among the problems encountered were the disorderly occupation of the waterfront, including over it (in palafite type buildings), as well as the lack of connection between the different points of the neighborhood. On the other hand, as potentiality appeared the possibility of removing the community to land near the current site, freeing the water front for the use of the entire community.
Thus, decks on the river would be created in order to bring the public closer to the Capibaribe River, providing direct interaction and use of space. Likewise, in order to keep people in the neighborhood, small buildings and feedback would be designed to house shops, restaurants, cafes and art exhibitions.
Connecting the different parts of the neighborhood and establishing axes of movement for pedestrians and bicycles solves the problem of disconnection of the neighborhood. Releasing the water front and guaranteeing its constant use, much appreciated a piece of the city that insists on remaining forgotten, in addition to providing the appropriation of space by the resident community itself.
