WHY I CHOSE TO MAKE THIS PRODUCT?

 

Probably the most outstanding feature of Arabs is that of generous hospitality. To Arabs, extending good hospitality is more than an admirable feature, it is a matter of Honor and a sacred duty!

 

What better way to compilement that hosipality than with a Coaster that says WELCOME in an Arabic Kufic Calligraphic style.

"Ahlan wa Sahlan' is a welcoming short phrase in arabic. 

 

As a starter, I made this short phrase into a geometeric Kufic Style. 

Turning it into a Calligraphic piece, I do that by rotating and extending some of the letters on a grid to keep a balanced positive\negative space. 

Instead of making a square coaster, I decided to make it a Hexagonal Coaster to be more attractive and above average.

To give my product that extra edge to make it more unique, I decided why stack the coasters horizontally or vertically? 

 

I created a simple base in which the coasters can stand on and create an interesting shape while they are not in use.
