Objective:Using evidence-based design, reorganize the interior of a higher education facility including active learning classrooms, a large capacity classroom, faculty hub, and cafe.
Design Solution: Current research shows the importance of active learning environments, the infusion of technology, and creating a variety of spaces to support learning everywhere. Additionally, I propose a design with more student work display and presentation space to promote a sense of community and ownership. This design meets the client's desired outcomes: an engaging facility, students with strong leadership skills, and greater learning retention.
This project won an "honorable mention" in Steelcase's student design competition. (2014)
