Joseph, the main persona of the story wakes up in a hospital without knowledge of where he was. When he tried to recall the last thought he had, he remembered of this event he came to call shift. Soon he learns of this Flayler or a Fay that was taking a host in him from a person named Frank. Frank was someone that was close to Joseph’s family to be called family.
It goes on to how match of a mess that Joseph and his sister wore getting in to as they gait abducted by an organization offspring of something called TCP (governing organization of that world). Their father takes a more step than he had before reveling that he knew more about what was going on around them than they might have supposed.
