My poster was created in Adobe Illustrator for an already existing or original superhero. I have chosen to illustrate Marilyn Monroe as I love everything about her and because the character is exactly like myself. I love make-up and being dressed but most of all I choose the cartoon because she is short like me, I am only 5 foot and curvy. Which reminded me so much of myself and thought I could get creative with her cartoon version. I think this character was a good match for my skill level, but it still challenged me as well. I first used the pen tool to draw the cartoon and the colour palette to change the colour of her skin, dress, hair and the gradients tool for her shoes for a more funky look. I then wrote her name in semi cursive writing and put a pale pink stroke around the lettering as it matched the the outer ring of the lights and added a navy blue fill for a better legibility. Her name is Shawty, this might be a bit unusual because of the spelling. I choose the name and spelling because all of my boyfriend’s friends call me this and due to the  Jamaican patois (broken english) Shawty is the name. The shadows and highlights were created by using the mesh tool which was a bit of challenge because you have to click what areas you want the colours to appear in but moving around the points for a more smoother look can get confusing due to too many lines.Then having to find the perfect colours to give perfect highlights and shadows. The background was created with the flare tool to give that lights, camera, action idea seeing as she is applying make-up for an event and the colour purple to compliment the main colours.
