I believe the most attractive quality of working with wood is that it's a ā€œliveā€ material, for example, it changes according to each variety you employ or the tint you apply.Ā Wood has characteristics you won't find in any other materials, it's natural andĀ has unique characteristics like the grain and fine woodworking that can be done on it, which in my point of view, give a much better result than other materials like plastic.
Ā
I always try to choose the most complex projects, and doing something assemblable is always complicated because I had to think of a product that people are going to manipulate, and that could end up badly if they can't understand it.
Ā
When I decided to design the table I had to study the needs of the users, and found out that what people claim are simple, friendly pieces of furniture that allow usage in many ways under different circumstances, like a dining room, as a desk or as a work station, to name a few.
Ā
I consider contests as wonderful talent showcases, and a way of showing not only to the design community but to the whole world what mexican designers are capable of; I believe all projects have to be functional and sustainable as long as possible, because we live in a very complex world and we have to do our best as designers to try and change it.
