This assignment was to create a movie poster. Based on my oldest daughter's feeling toward children and her niece's attitude of bugging her aunt, I decided on a parody of the Alien vs. Predator movie.
I created a background 27 x 40 inches per our assignment instructions. I filled with black and laid a radial gradient in blue over it.
I took both pictures of the girls and did pretty much the same thing to both. I did some HDR toning initially and then selected them out of the background. I used refine edge to deal with some hair issues. I then moved them to the background and adjusted the sizing. I copied each one. Kayden, I set to color dodge and dropped the opacity on. Savvy, I set to multiply and dropped opacity. I then added a linear gradient mask at the bottom to hide the straight edges of the pictures.
The two background images I used, one of tree branches and the other of a rock house, I first adjusted with a gradient map to turn into black and white pictures. I then moved and resized the pictures and set to multiply in order to get rid of the white.
I then added the title, tagline and rating box to the poster. On the title, I did some bevel and emboss and added a lens flare for extra interest.
